For SNIBgt (Sistema Nacional de Información sobre Biodiversidad de Guatemala), administered by CONAP (Consejo Nacional de Áreas Protegidas), we developed a series of motion graphics explainer videos designed to help users better understand and navigate the platform. SNIBgt functions as a national information system that supports the management, organization, and access to studies and research related to genetic resources and traditional knowledge in Guatemala.

The main objective of the project was to translate the technical processes of the platform into a clear, accessible, and engaging visual format. The videos were created as educational tools that guide users step by step through the different functionalities of the system, helping researchers, institutions, and stakeholders make more effective use of the available information. The production process began with the development of storyboards and visual scripts, defining the narrative structure and the sequence of information presented in each video. This stage ensured that the content would be easy to follow while maintaining a coherent flow between concepts, instructions, and visual elements.

Using Adobe Illustrator, we designed a set of graphic assets and illustrations that visually represent the system’s components, processes, and data structures. These elements were then animated in After Effects, where we developed a series of motion graphics sequences that clearly demonstrate how the platform works. Through the use of simple iconography, smooth transitions, and carefully paced animation, the videos help simplify complex information systems into understandable visual steps. To reinforce clarity and accessibility, the animations were complemented with professional voiceover narration, for which we also provided voiceover direction to ensure that the tone and pacing aligned with the educational purpose of the videos. Final editing and assembly were completed in Premiere, creating a polished series of institutional explainer videos ready for digital distribution.

The final result is a set of informational motion graphics videos that strengthen SNIBgt’s communication efforts by making its digital tools more approachable and user-friendly. Through the combination of visual storytelling, animation, and instructional design, the videos help promote better access to biodiversity data and support the mission of CONAP in protecting and managing Guatemala’s natural resources.
